Text File Splitter

Note: Files are stored temporarily for 24 hours. You can choose to delete them after downloading.

How to Use the Text File Splitter Utility

The Text File Splitter utility is used to split large files into smaller text files. Whether you're working with large datasets, logs, or other types of text content, this utility can split files line by line or by size, allowing you to download and manage the split files easily. Here's how you can use this tool:

Step 1: Navigate to Text File Splitter

Visit the Text File Splitter website and locate the tool. The tool is simple and user-friendly with an intuitive interface.

Step 2: Upload Your Text File

  • Locate the "Upload Text File" Field: Tap the Upload Text File button to upload your text file. The tool accepts standard .txt files and other text-based formats.
  • Select Your File: After selecting the desired file from your computer, the tool will upload it to the website for processing.

Step 3: Select How You’d Like to Split the File

You can split your file using two options: by lines or by file size.

Split by Lines:

In the "Lines Per File" field, specify the number of lines to include in each split file. For example, if you enter 100, the tool will split the file into smaller files containing 100 lines each. This is useful for structured data or logs that need to be split at fixed intervals.

Split by File Size:

In the "Size Per File (KB)" field, enter the maximum file size (in KB) for each split file. This is useful for limiting file sizes when sending via email or uploading to sites with size restrictions.

No Input Provided:

If both fields are left empty, the tool will default to splitting the file into parts of 100 KB each.

Step 4: Split a File

  • Click the "Split File" Button: Once you have uploaded your file and configured the split options, click the Split File button to start the process. A loader will appear while the file is being split.
  • Progress Display (Optional): Depending on the size of your file, the tool may display a progress bar indicating the file-splitting process in real-time.

Step 5: Download the Split Files

  • Download the Split Files: After the file has been split, the tool will create a ZIP archive of the split files. A Download Split Files button will appear. Click it to download the ZIP file.
  • View the Split Files: Unzip the downloaded file on your local machine to access the smaller split files.

Step 6: Manage the Files

  • Delete the Files: After downloading, you can delete the split files from the server by clicking the Delete Files button. This ensures no unwanted files remain on the server after you're done.
  • Automatic Deletion: Files are stored for 24 hours and are automatically deleted after this time to save storage space.

Step 7: Temporary Storage Notice

Files processed by the Text File Splitter utility are stored temporarily:

  • Files are stored for 24 hours: Ensure you download the split files within 24 hours. After that, all files are permanently deleted from the server.

Best Practices

  • Ensure Successful Upload: Make sure your file uploads successfully before attempting to split it.
  • Verify Splitting Options: Double-check the number of lines or file size you've entered to ensure the split happens as expected.
  • Download Promptly: Download the split files immediately after the process completes to avoid losing access.
  • Use the Delete Button: For privacy and storage reasons, manually delete files from the server once you're finished with them.

Troubleshooting

  • File Upload Fails: Ensure that the file format is supported and that it doesn't exceed the maximum upload size.
  • File Not Splitting Correctly: Verify that you've entered the correct number of lines or file size.
  • Permission Errors: If you're unable to delete files, it could be due to permission issues on the server. Try again or contact support.
